Discovering New Possibilities
OSIC is driven by global experts. Our members are the best and the brightest radiologists, pulmonologists, machine learners, and imaging experts from industry and academia. Our collective brain power is broad and diverse, and when we come together, we can progress in ways we haven’t yet considered.
In 2021, we announced our first OSIC Member Challenge — an exciting opportunity for our members to collaborate with other members and help advance the mission of our organization. For three months, they explored and worked with a large set of anonymized HRCT scans and accompanying clinical data from the OSIC Data Repository to see what they could discover. This first-of-its-kind global database for rare fibrotic lung diseases is the world’s largest and most diverse, and it contains a plethora of real-world clinical and imaging data that is both multi-ethnic and multi-center.
The OSIC Member Challenge gave members the chance to utilize this repository to further their research projects and theories; work outside the ILD and respiratory universe; and engage with the machine learning community. We thank them for bringing a new set of eyes to this disease state to help drive medical innovation and ultimately help patients everywhere.
